I have recently replace primary clutch on a 1992 300 fourtrax 4x4 all marks in line reset the clutch play to factory still will not move jumps when put into gear but that’s all please help

pinched friction disc would be my guess ----welcome to the forums

take the cover back off , with your finger nail or a screw driver check that the discs of the clutch are all tight against one another ----when you tighten the 4 bolts on the clutch , your need to do it evenly and be sure the splines of the discs are aligned

Yep, what Fish said.

Usually if you start looseing the bolts you'll hear a pop when the hub tightens up.

The center part (that the bolts thread into) floats, and if it gets in a bind it can't pull all the way out (what those springs are for) so the friction discs aren't up against each other.

When those bolts are tightened all the way down you shouldn't be able to move the clutch friction discs.

Also if you did pinch the plates , I would take the time to take the clutch apart and check the disc , one time when I pinched them , one got bent ,would be a bummer to do it again then again

Thanks for the advise fishfiles I’ll check all that and see what it looks like I’m sorry I replace the front clutch I didn’t mess with any clutch plates on the bike

Crazy question how many friction plates and how many clutch plates cause the guy I got it from said they put new clutch plates in it but looks like one is missing

6 frictions and 5 plates ---------- really there are two more plate surfaces , one built into the basket and in into the cover , so you should have a friction on each end of the stack with a disc between each one , when it is properly seated under spring pressure , no friction should be loose
