Hi all, I am hoping someone here can shed some light on my problem.

I have a TRX420fpmb and the power steering light is on all the time. I have tried reading the code from the DTC (which was error 18-0# EPS ECU Internal circuit) and have erased the DTC error successfully as per the instructions in the manual. But the error 18-0# comes up again every time. I have also check all the connections and they all look good.

Am i at the point where i need to try a new EPS ECU?

Thanks for your time,

SOLUTION: So today I was adjusting the clutch (thanks shadetree for the great instructions) as my bike would roll forward in first gear. Having completed this, lo and behold, the PS light tuned off and power steering started working again.

Can anyone explain how this could be? Note: I did not touch anything else on the bike.

Sadly the PS light has come back to haunt me. This time I pulled apart the power steering motor to check the brushes. They looked alright to me so I gave them a clean before putting everything back together again.

When starting the bike the PS light turned off, but as soon as I moved the handlebars slightly, the light immediately came on again. This happened several times.

Do I need to replace the motor brushes maybe?

Hi TBRider, thanks for the link. I have reset the PS but frustratingly the light turns straight back on. (FYI Using a small magnet and washer instead of a screwdriver makes the process so much easier).

Has anyone else had an issue with the ESP motor itself? I cannot find much about replacing brushes etc. which is making me question if it is the issue after all.

So the power steering still not working. The other day, however, I was working the bike hard towing a trailer (in 4WD), and then all of a sudden the PS light went off and the power steering started working again. After a while the PS light went back on and hasn't changed since.

Does that point to anything...?
