So I had a fuel leak on my 450ES and have removed the carb to a local shop for rebuild. It was mentioned on here by a few with more knowledge than me, which is about everyone, to check engine oil for fuel that may have entered. I am going to change oil and filter before getting my carb back but have a question. Obviously oil drains much better if warm from running a few minutes, but not going to be able to start. Is it OK just to pull the drain plug and give it a couple hours or can I do anything else to get it all? I don't smell any fuel odor but a just in case, thanks.....

Dump the oil cold . . .
Just takes a little longer for the drips to stop.

This may be something to consider / maybe not.
If you're torquing to specifications . . . . (drain plug)
You'll get a different torque with a temperature change in the metals involved.
Warm/hot metal is expanded and if torqued to spec, will be over tightened.
Not trying to start anything here . . . . just an observation.

Thanks for the replies! Just wanted to be sure I get all the oil out, seeing as tho the plug is on the bottom of the engine it should eventually drain out. I will make sure both the o rings for the filter are in this time also....:icon_ nono2:
