I may have not paied attention and posted in the wrong thread, ment to post in repair and maintenance. Sorry guys and gals.

I seen an article by Helmut I think years ago, and was looking to compare colors. I noticed factory adjustments (at least mine maybe other 300's or atvs). How this all started is when I got my 300 years ago, it would rev up high with choke on when cold, so I had to play Sherlock Holmes, no intake or seal leaks, or clogged circuits so the idle mix was lean from the factory for a tan colored plug years ago. Dont always believe a coffee colored plug that's been in an atv for years and never changed (especially if one owner). Here's a photo of my iridium plug NGK DPR8EIX-9.

Not overly rich, not white as Caspar the ghost either. Has great low end response and power doesn't run wild like it used to or like grandpa's 300 and doesn't pop on decel. Runs like a scalded ape and when warmed up I can rap it and instant response (I never do that on a cold engine).

In my opinion of your second picture, from what I can see, the base ring is a hair on rich side. But its safer that way. Your porcelain is quite dark though. That as well is a possible indication of being a tad rich... but overall it doesn't look too bad. If she's running good, leave er!

I didnt intend to change anything besides one of the orings on the pilot screw split a few years ago, if I would adjust it out it would leak when I got to the point of it stumbling from to rich. So I left it alone and it's running great :) I think they had non ethanol fuel when my 300 was built cause the original plug was tan like coffee. I'm not changing a thing since she runs like a scalded ape and pulls like a bear on the bottom end through mid range.

60 + mile trip into town (there and back being the + after 60 miles). Isnt possible for me. I mostly ride trails and fences so for good low end mid range power is great, cause I work fences with my 300 too witch means trailer plumb full of fencing stuff.
