I'm pulling my hair out on my 98 Honda fourtrax 300 2x4 lost key so I hot wired it using to toggle switches it ran great I ordered a key switch for it and now I'm lost is my key switch supposed to have 2 hot wires when on n 2 hot when off

Did you buy an OEM master switch (key switch) that would have made it simple. Swap out bad harness for new harness.
You should be able to access the service manuals and parts links in my signature block below. Wiring diagram in the back though.
I don’t have a copy of the later model service manual

you can always pull the ignition switch out of the dash, and locate the numbers along the side, this number will give you the key code to cut a new key

I can't advise on the wires, I'm sure someone will be along who can, from now on do yourself a favor and write those 3 digits under the rubber key weather cap, make note... That rubber weather cap on some models (300) will NOT come off! Mine are c09 and a09, hopefully noone will get the idea to have copies of mine made....lol!
