I'm finding it very difficult to find a suitable place to mount the DNR rear plate that is req'd here in Wisconsin. The tailgate does not have a flat spot large enough (some older models did), and the tilt bed eliminates the area just below that bed. I was told of some melting of the heat shield on the muffler if the plate was mounted there.

What is left except on the contoured tail gate where the plate is destined to get bent up?

I'm finding this simple task to be a little perplexing. Ideas????? Thanks

Yeah I hear ya. Those blowmold tailgates are hard to do anything with. I ended building a new heavy duty tailgate for my 700 and I have plans to build and sell them this summer once my shop is finished. How far are you from Rochelle, IL? I'll need a 1000 to take measurements from. Of course yours would be free.

I just saw your post........... I'm 35 miles north of Madison, WI. I ended up making a wood mounting bracket to fit into the receiver. It works great until you need to mount the trailer hitch. LOL When I use the hitch I just go without the plate, but that isn't on trails.

No it doesn't have to be illuminated.
