Hello everyone:

I just got an old but in surprisingly good condition 1991 fourtrax 200D.

There are a few things that need attention, front brakes, bent front guard and just general tidying up.

The one problem that I am not sure how to fix is the parking brake.

The lever is loose. As in, about an inch of slack before it even thinks about tightening up. Where is the adjustment for this and will it take up this much slack?

I will send a picture of the lever when I get home tonight.

Thank you
Steve

If it is like most Hondas there should be a wing nut on the end of that brake cable where the lever attaches to the rear brake backer. One wing nut adjusts the foot brake freeplay, the other adjusts the left brake lever freeplay.

You can find a copy of the service manual by browsing the ATC section after following the link in this thread:

Come to find out the cable is frozen in the housing. Hope to find a good one on the parts bike that the PO is letting me cannibalize. If not, I will have to find a new one.

As a side note, is there any particular parts I should be looking for? Something hard to find or prone to breakage?
