Ever since I got my 400ex back in October my girl has been wanting one.

We've seen a couple online here and there.

I want her to get something small, no bigger than a 250 (she weighs less than 100 lbs).

I found an ad locally for this '89 Suzuki LT230.

Doesn't look to be in the best of shape, but I'd have to see it in person.

For around the same price we could get a Chinese 125 with a 6 month warranty, but I'd rather go name brand Japanese if possible, but without breaking the bank.

Thoughts, opinions, experiences welcome!

I personally don't care to work on Suzuki ATVs. Their motorcycles are fine, but their engineers don't know squat about how to make a good ATV & an ATV motor. I'd buy a Kawasaki before I'd buy a Suzuki... and I hate working on Kaws too. Maybe you'll feel different about them though... I'm no authority. Just opinionated.

I'm the same as @retro if I'm honest, I tend to disregard Kawasaki and Suzuki when looking at ATVs. I got my fiancé a little 85' trx250a for £300 which is pretty cheap here. Since then managed to pick up another for £200 as a donor bike for spares.
I'm Honda through and through but I'd certainly consider a Yamaha.

I can say that Suzuki have the kids ATV market swamped here in the UK, if your kid wants an ATV it seems the only way is a little LT90. There everywhere and also appear to be super reliable.
