OK Gang... am starting a thread about OLD WIVES TALES about ...well... combustion engines, gear boxes and Honda bikes... I love all these things you guys submit...

I'll start here with #1...

Adding moth balls to your fuel tank helps mileage and engine performance.

THERE IT IS... OK...OK..I'll add the DEBUNK data....(bummer I know)

Adding moth balls to your gas tank,,,is just like ANY RUMOR..abit of sense...and a WHOLE LOT OF NONSENSE....

SENSE ISSUE... (not really but sounds good)
Old moth balls were made from crystallized NAPHTHA... yep.. NAPHTHA... as,,,when they degrade...they form a vapor and mouths hate it..if the breath it..they,,,(as you) will die..as will the 'worm' larvae hatched from eggs..... SO,, the idea is ,,,dump some balls of naphtha in your gas tank,,,they degrade to naphtha.. and it helps the gas work better! YEA? Mouth balls are cheap, yes... :icon_ nono2:No...No...No...https://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums/images/smilies2/icon_ nono2.gif

REAL SENSE ISSUE....
Come on. Come on. I worked in refineries on 3 continents and two islands... for 8 different companies that made GASOLINE FOR SALE... We made millions of gallons of HIGH OCTANE gasoline...Millions of gallons of naphtha... GAS..is a spec and performance and PRICE driven product... If Company A adds naphtha to its gas,,cheaply... and sell more of it...meet the KNOCK SPECS.."BETTER PERFORMANCE".. at a lower price than Company B...DO YOU THINK THEY WILL ADD IT?? HECK YES...HECK YES>.. remember the SPEC for KNOCK and PING...GASOLINE HAS to meet spec to be 'graded'... regular...special...

Now..adding mouth balls of crystallized naphtha as a BOOSTER...come on man... How do you you think the crystallization chemistry used to make the 'BALLS" will react in your engines INJECTOR PORTS at ignition? If you want to add Naphtha.. .just buy a gallon and add it... BUT...don't expect the fuel additives in your MAJOR OIL company's gasoline to act right... YOU JUST CHANGED THE CHEMISTRY... Don't you think the PHD ORGANIC CHEMISTRY SCIENTISTS that work at the oil companies know more than YOU? THAN ME? I do! And I know a few of them...for YEARS... THEY ARE SMART persons... much smarter than me...

OH yea! Mouth balls are not made with Naphtha anymore... Cheezz..why not add 'almond milk' to your tank?...

OK...enough... GAS ADDITIVE...WHAT DOES THE NOSE DIVE USE,,,if any?

YES...I use an additive...I use TECHRON... BUT...BUT...BUT...

1. I only use it TWICE A YEAR
2. I use it ONE GAS TANK BEFORE MY schedule OIL change
3, I DO NOT USE IT in every tank... see #1 above...
4. I change my oil after my tank with TECHRON has been emptied....

This stuff is good and will... IT WILL turn any oil BLACK AS SATAN'S NAME ON THE GATES OF HELL...
OK.. this is my put on GAS additives and my OLD WIVES TALES OFFERING #1. (I have a few more..but am saving them to read you guys stuff)...

God Bless guys...

I'd be curious as to your thoughts on this one.

Adding 2stroke oil to gas in a 4 stroke motor.

Been testing Oil

I view this with a healthy dose of skepticism for the reason you stated; if it were THAT easy, every manufacturer would be doing it.

Same thing, as far as I'm concerned, goes for K&N air filters, brap mufflers, etc. I've dumped a lot of money into crap like this over the years, and slapping this stuff on a stock engine only makes your wallet lighter.

Many folks that run the 5.9L Cummins with the Bosch VP44 injector pump add TC-W3 oil to the fuel. This isn't to lube the top end, or to enhance performance . . . it's to add a bit more 'lubricity' to the fuel. Diesel fuel is the only lube that the VP44 gets. Pump life is extended. Lot's of info on this.

##~ High octane gasoline makes more power in a low compression motor . .
##~ Sea Foam . . .

i put slick-50 in my oil. the 55 chevy1st truck. it didnt have the emergency brake hooked up. after i added slick50, i couldnt park on a hill, without a curb, because the engine compression no longer held the truck. maybe that stuff were good, maybe not. i when back to Pennzoil. that truck didnt come out of the factory with an oil filter. i changed the oil when it looked dirty.
they dont sell slick50 anymore. maybe a scam?
