Hey all. This is my first post in this forum, excited to be a part of it. So my dad bought a 300ex years ago, I believe it was a 98 or 99 model. When he moved to the city he ended up storing it along with a bunch of stuff in this small warehouse that he owns. Its been there for just over 6 years, maybe 7 (under non-ideal conditions). Anyway, for some strange reason, it popped into my head today and I decided that I wanted to make use of it, instead of letting it gather even more dust than it already has.

I haven't seen it or tried to operate it in more than 6 years and I have no idea what condition its in, except that it was working fine when he stored it. I'm just wondering, what do you guys think would be the main problems I would face in trying to operate this old guy?

Looking forward to your comments :)

I Agree with :whore:. Before trying to start it put a smaal amount of oil down the sparkplug hole to get the cylinder walls lubed.

So here it finally is! It was actually in a much better condition than i expected. I was expecting to maybe find dead rats in the airbox.

I took a few shots of it while I was working on it. All the sealed internals of the Carb were in great condition. Only problem was with the piston? inside it being stuck. A little carb cleaner solved that issue.

Some of the panels need adjusting.

A lot of rust on the exhaust pipe

The air filter pretty much disintegrated upon touching it.

I accidentally ripped the fuel hose as I was removing the gas tank (7 years storage makes these hoses really brittle).

So here's what I've done so far:

1. Changed motor oil
2. Drained and replaced brake fluid
3. Soaked Carb in carb cleaner and got it unstuck
4. Checked electrical wiring, all is good

Things to be done:
1. New tires
2. Brake pads
3. Lube the chain, possibly replace (too much rust)
4. New spark plug
5. New battery

Hopefully can get it up and running before the end of the week. Thanks everyone for your help so far :). I'll post up some more pics when its back in shape!
