I have a 2005 Rincon with just over 2000 miles that has had its oil pump chain pop off without notice. The motor has been removed and taken apart (that is how the problem was found). Since it is apart, I am wondering if I should replace the oil pump? I plan to check the service limits, but just curious what others would do in this situation. If everything checks in spec, should I just replace the chain and be done? I am just concerned since I do not know why the chain came off, what should I replace while I am in there (or what should I even look for)? Also, while I got the motor out, with 2000 miles on the ATV, should I look/examine anything else or consider replacing anything while its out? Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

Change the chain and the pump and there may be a tensioner in there to change for the chain I would change the rings if I had it that far apart and maybe service the head but it depends on how long it ran without an oil pump.

Agree.. As long as you have it apart I would replace the pump.
