i went to a local quad and motorcycle place a couple days ago and they said i should get a new oil filter because i have never changed it and i dont really know what to do with it

Yeah, it's pretty easy to change an oil filter, just watch how it comes out and don't put it in backwards.

There's a little cover on the right side of the engine that you have to take off. There's two bolts holding it on. The filter is under the cover. Be sure to notice how it comes out and make sure you don't put it in backwards or it will block the oil flow to your engine.
