Odd noise on startup attempt

Went to start our 2011 Rancher 420 2wd ES today. Start button causes "an electrical vibration noise" that seems to be coming from one of the components located under the seat, behind the battery well. I did find and remove a mud dobber's nest from that area, just FYI.

How many problems do I have here? I have read elsewhere about the rectifier/regulator, so I suspect that is part of my problem. Haven't seen anything anywhere about a "noise" other than the classic solenoid click.

This is the first time this thing has given any problems at all. It has about 600 hours on it, I think.

Thanks in advance!

Remove the battery from the bike and clean the battery terminals and cable ends on the battery and the solenoid. Also remove the ground from the motor (near the starter) and clean that up good. Reinstall everything you took apart and see if that don't help.

A noise.... Is it a clicking? Stands a chance of being the solenoid. As retro has said, clean all the connections well and see if that helps any before digging any further.
