Lmao howdy all. I really hate to do this, but im in need of a new tire.. I have a 13' rancher fm, and not looking for a GR.. A yr ago, I was looking at 26" ITP Mud Lites, as Ive read a few people put them on without much power loss over stock.

That said, today i was also considering the 26" Mudlite XL. Not sure if the deeper lugs will overwhelm the 420. Then, i saw they came out with Mud Lite II. Also they have the Mud Lite XTR Radial.. I thought i had it narrowed down last time i was shopping, but now new (to me) tires have surfaced.

I ride some mushy stuff, some hard pack, and Def plow in winter. stockers are worn out, and im gonna mount 1 of the mentioned above on new 12" rims.

If anyone has any input, as far as reliability id greatly appreciate it. Sidewall punctures suck.

Im almost totally against buying standard mud lites with these additional options. Id even go to 27" on 14's if it were possible. im not a dreamer tho

Love to hear some opinions! Thanks!

Bonus pic of our Local Record breaking winter snowfall. That piles over 10' deep, and about 4.5 ft high, and thats just 1 pile!! Were currently at 169" of snow for the season, and we usually arent done till St. Pattys day

That is the first time I seen the MudLite II 's , I like the looks , reminds me of my Mudzillas
, I have Mudlites on my 300 2wd's , have had them on 4x4 300's also , and I like them for what we ride in , they clear out good , also have Swamp Lites on my wife's 300 they don't look special , but they work and don't shake like the Outlaws do

Leaning towards them, but was curious if anyone would happen to know the weight of the OEM Maxxis M978 that comes stock?? Cant find the tires on Maxxis for any info at all.

I found the specs on the mudlite 2s but nothing to compare them too.

26x9-12 - 27.8 lbs
26x11-12 - 33.3 lbs

Anyone have any opinions on running that weight over stock? I do not want to overwhelm my engine/ drivetrain, as i dont think theres much to do to get more power out of a 420.

Friends' wife has a 2016 420 with 28's , no engine mods or reduction and she does really well ------ I have wondered which is heavier , a 14 inch rim with a 28 , or a 12 inch rim with the same exact 28 , don't think it would be a big difference --------- when it comes to tire weight my philosophy is " it is , what it is "

All the tires suggested are good and vast improvement over stock tires. Like Mac suggested as well, Maxxis makes some great tires too. Personally, I would consider something in the 25-26" range, likely favoring the 25" size. I may be wrong here, but I can only imagine that as you go up in tire size/weight you feel that through the handle bars, especially steering under slow/tight conditions, and I say that based on my Honda Pioneer 500 experience, a 1" taller tire over stock and would not say it is unmanageable by any stretch, but noticeable vs stock 24" tires.

Thanks for the input guys! I saw that the 12" rim i wanted weights 9.5lbs reported in the question/answer.

That said, total weight in front will be 36 lb per front, and 42 lb per rear. That seems like a lot imo? ill bet thats almost double what stock is. They only have 4 ply though, and no lugs left..
