Good evening,
I am a 63 year old, retired, community college instructor. Although I have purchased numerous 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers, motorcycles, and snowmobiles for my son, until yesterday I had never purchased a 4-wheeler for myself. I fell in love with a 2001 Honda Rubicon 500 that my son’s father-in-law was selling and bought it. Trouble is, the day I went tp pick it up, it wouldn’t start. I bought it anyway believing that it’s a Honda–-it will run.
Any advice about Rubicon starting issues and/or other issues would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums, I would start with making sure the battery is strong and probably checking for spark. How old is the fuel?

welcome to the site from the central part of the same state. and what a fortunate son you have. growing up I was working my butt off with typical teenager jobs so I could buy my own toys, and then my dad decided he wanted to ride (on mine) again.

for the Rubicon, if it isn't starting, there isn't much special about it compared to other carbureted singles... you need a clean carb and fresh gas to start. tons of threads on proper carb cleaning out there.

But specific to your generation Rubicon, PLEASE read this one: https://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums/repair-maintenance/76538-rubicon-hondamatic-rebuild.html
