I’ve got a 07 trx250ex and it’s not cranking over.neutral light comes on headlight tail light works. I’ve changed almost everything on it. Changed the starter switch, regulator, cdi module, solenoid, new battery, new power and ground wires, coil. I’m getting power from the starter switch. I can jump the solenoid terminals and it’ll start and run but can start it with handlebar switch. Anyone know what could be the problem?

Are any of the parts you’ve replaced Chinese, or are they OEM or known good brand?

when you say you jumped the solenoid , did you jump the two big wires and it spun , or did you apply voltage to the small wire which is the trigger to make the solenoid engage ----- like mentioned above , if you bought that solenoid off e-bay for like $5 , good chance that is the problem

Yes I bought the solenoid from eBay. Are they not good?

You can buy one off e-bay just make sure it is OEM Honda and not Made In China , the price is usually the give away , but if you read all the fine print you can usually find the words made in China , I have gone thru a few of the $5 ones , and got one start , no starts , and exactly what happened to you , we were standing around the bikes at a pit stop and mine just started spinning by it's self

Just ordered a new oem solenoid from Honda. Do you know if the wires from the solenoid to switch have to match colors? Y/r and lg?

Right now The connectors from the switch to the solenoid is different so y/r wire from the solenoid connects with the lg
And the lg wire from the solenoid connects to y/r wire.

I would have to replace the connectors so it’ll fit just to have the wires matching y/r to y/r, lg to lg

Picture this , the solenoid is a magnet , the two small wires are positive and negative , when you press the starter button , voltage is sent to the solenoid and the magnet pulls the contacts together and bridges the two large wires together and sends voltage to the starter , so if the starter doesn't spin you must not have a ground and positive to the small wires , for the ground side , the neutral switch has to be in working order and the neutral light lit up , use a test light and check the wires

Hi: I am asking the same thing as above -- do you have 12 volts dc on the Y/R to Lg wire on the starter solenoid coil when trying to start the bike???

Hi: The next thing to do is unplug the 2 small wires on the solenoid and apply 12 volts dc right to the to the solenoid coil using jumpers (Y/R is the positive and Lg is the Neg). The bike should should turn over.

Yeah I’ve tried jumping it and it runs and starts but I’m trying to get it to start with the e-start in the handlebar.

Hi: Are you saying you power the solenoid direct from the battery on the Y/R & Lg wires? I don't mean putting a screw driver across the large posts.
