Bought 1998 450 Forman S , it had been set-up for a while installed new carb. Cleaned gas tank . Started engine , it ran a little while.Then tried to start , no fire. Here’s all I’ve done so far - new on off switch (bundle) regulator, coil , and CDi box. Still no fire ! Help please !

all these new parts..were they from honda ?..or amazon ? ( china junk ! ). if not from honda ( oem ) ?, then thats your problem right there.

you need to test the stator & trigger coil. get yourself a multimeter and test them. stator should test close to 1.0 ohms and no continuity to ground. Also, if I remember correctly the trigger coil should be somewhere between 300-400 ohms. I cannot remember off hand. usually when those are bad you'll get fluctuating high amount of resistance. 2k ohms as a reference (don't take it as gospel)

also, if you bought a Chinese regulator I have seen those fail right out of the box.

the foreman's need a regulator/rectifier to spark just FYI.

Well here’s the results. After all the aggravation the problem was the ignition switch. Accidentally figured it out. While pushing start button I turned switch to the off position, it fired . Turned back to on position, it fired again. Only at that point. Went to Honda dealer got new switch , problem solved ! Who knew ?
