I was riding my rancher up a slight hill and it just quit. I checked several things and found that its not getting fire to the plug. In the shed where I keep it the mice are terrible and they had built nests in the battery compartment and also between the gas tank and breather. I checked and none of the wires are excessively chewed. Its just strange to me that it just quit like it did with no warning. What are some more things that I can check?

Welcome to the forums. Things that could cause it not to fire, other than bad wiring, would be a bad ignition coil, CDI, pulse generator or stator.

Thanks. I'm pretty much a novice mechanic at best. How can I check the coil, stator, cdi. As I said, I cannot see anywhere that the wiring looks faulty. Could the mice have damaged any of these things without chewing wire (urine or moisture)?

I doubt it.

You'll need a repair manual to show you what the specs are for the different components and a good multimeter to check the components with. Some components require a peak voltage tester.

There is no test for the CDI other than to replace it with a know good unit.
