I you have been working on this 400EX forever why starter went out so I kind of jerry-rigged it and I've been talking it over off of solenoid and now it just spins and now I've got no spark to anything other than the positive cable to the battery and the positive cable that runs to the solenoid what is my problem can somebody please help me I've been working on this thing for almost 2 years now and I've got to write it probably a total of 10 hours please somebody help me it's a 2000 400EX 440

Well, first ya gotta give up the jerry-rigging habits, those become expensive and destroy the value of your bike. And no one likes to help someone who cobbles... Diagnose the issue and replace parts if necessary.... after you've repaired any cobbling that might be on the bike.

Are all of the wiring harnesses and plugs still in original, unmolested condition? Any non-OEM parts on the bike? Got a copy of the service manual handy and ready to fix things right? Please be careful with adult language use in the forums.

Retros right,, dont tinker with your wiring, nor, anything else much, till you know what your doing, even then, beware. honda atv; schematics/manual in forums here may have what you need,, i dont see why not, just read first sticky. i tinker myself, some times it works, sometimes it costs. nothing like the school of hard knocks, to get you pointed in the right direction. best school ever.
