I just purchased a 2001 Foreman S 450 and it has a noise coming from engine when idling, and a few other little issues. Is there anyone in the Lawrenceville/Buford/Suwanee area that could help me out in finding what the issue might be. I also need to fix the bearings on left wheel. The guy said the cable broke and it is stuck in 4wd, only to find out it is a
Drive Shaft Switch out, and not sure if it can be repaired. I thinking I may have made a mistake buying this ATV:sad

nah, that model is a great atv, its just that the past owner did not take of it !. like I said in my first post to you, remove the switch out, put it back to stock. noises are hard to narrow down ?, spec when its been abused !. when I take on something like you have , I rip it all apart, and go through it inside and out. lately have 3 of these models under my belt. great machines, IF YOU FIX THEM RIGHT !..LOL.

First, sorry for the dbl post. I came back to this page and it said submit, which I was sure I had! Someone please delete 2nd post.

Thanks for the encouraging words! It was first listed at $2500 then they brought it down to $1995 and after looking it over and checking everything out like mentioned here in one of the posts, I offered $700 and the lady said, $1K so I counter offered with $625 and then she said $700 so I said sold.

I wish I knew how to fix it and save myself some money. I ordered a Uni air filter for it, and looking at the Honda TRX 450 Foreman front cv axles wheel bearings & seals set 1998-2004 as the right front when sitting on it has bad bearings and torn boot. not sure if I need new tire rod ends. But my concern is the major clicking noise when idling.

no double post, your intro where you talked about buying this atv..lol. as for fixing it ?, first..not a fan of uni air filters one bit !. they let in too much small dirt to me. as for the axles in the front ?, if you want to save a buck or two ?, try using '' sixty '' brand name axles, they are decent for the price, you can get the heavy duty ones for about 185 for both front axles. they are china brand..but unless your mud riding ?, they seem to do pretty good for what little I know of, and installed for folks. clicking when idling ?, loose valves ?, or bad cam chain ?. cam chain is behind front engine cover, which means front diff has to be unbolted, pulled forward to get the drive shaft out, to remove the front cover. this would be the time to ditch that worthless switch out, and put the oem drive shaft back in !.

worse case, you can load it up, haul it to Arkansas, swing by my house, leave it, and about 500 bucks, and i'll fix the current problems...lol.

FWIW ?, I got a trx420 in my shop right now, a guy from ohio got word of my work, and drove down here, watched me tear his top end down, asked me how much to fix, I told him, he handed me the parts cash, waiting on parts to get in, will have it back together and running that day the parts get in..lol. word of mouth travels well with my work..lol.
