Hi Folks,I am thinking about buying a new Honda. We will be riding on Mostly on gravel bars on the river with some water crossings. A few trails with fallin trees and Rocks. Hauling lawn chairs and Ice Chests etc. I have only had one other ATV before and it was an Arctic Cat 400. It was a nice ride but it would wear me out when in 4 wheel drive. It had hard steering.( I'm 56 yrs old) So anyone that rides on trails like I will be on, Your input will be Greatly Appreciated .....Thanks....great site by the way:)

I got the perfect solution for you my friend. Ask anyone here and they will agree. My 65 yr old grandpa rides 4wheelers too and he has just the thing that you need. A 2007 Rancher 420. It is just plain perfect for your riding. It is fuel injected, semi-auto (shift with only your foot, most reliable type of trans) YOu can have 4x4 if you want but the 4x2 is really powerful I think. I think it is the perfect machine for you. MY grandpa is selling his because we don't ride as much and his has 5.7 hours on it. IT is new. You can get them for about $3400-$4300 around here. Good luck and ask ANY questions. Welcome to the forum!

2009 Rancher AT EPS

This quad is very easy to ride. The 5sp tranny shifts smoothly and the powersteering makes the steering very light (still w/good feedback) and manageable over all types of terrain. I ride big Polaris' at work, but when I get home really enjoy the Honda. I bought one for my wife laste year and we like it so much I recently bought one for me.

Hope this helps,
Gary

09 Rancher has PS available, and so does the 07 Foreman.

The Rancher is liquid cooled with fuel injection, the foreman air cooled with carb. The 09 rancher also has independent rear with 9 inches of clearance, if that is important to you. The foreman is straight shaft with around 7 inch, I think.

I just got a foreman with power steering, and it's the bomb. I'm now looking for a 09 rancher with PS and when I find one used, I'm buying it.

But sometimes dominating the mud is really bad for your machine. My cousins borrowed my old Fourtrax about 4 years ago, Still mud stuck up in the engine and places we cant reach.
