I am new to the forum and is my first post I Bought a used '08 rancher 420 es for my wife 2 wks ago. I was not very familiar with the es and after riding more after getting it home I became a little leary of the tranny, it seems to shift hard ( jerk) going into next gear but shifts easier if you really get on it. Also twice it would not shift into neutral when I went to start it but finally did after about ten pushes of the downshift button, could this be a low battery condition

i don't know much about the newer models..but..from what i have read around here..it has alot to do with the sensors in your bike..if it is under warranty..contact your local honda dealer..everyone i seen post about this says honda recalled these models because it's a defect..soo..you can try contacting your honda dealer first .

if it shifts every time u tell it too but it jerks, its more than likley a stuck shift clutch. easy fix, but carry it back and let the guys at the honda shop take care of you, thats what we're here for lol.
