Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I have a 2005 TRX350TM Rancher that Im just trying to keep on the trail. Its currently running but on occasion it will have trouble starting. it will crank and act like it wants to start and get fire but stop. It almost seems like its flooding. I have a newer carb (OEM) and choke cable. fresh plug and fresh oil and air filter. I has been running fine up until recently. I can eventually get it started and it runs fine. Any ideas what may me happening or what i need to check? Thank you.

Did you do the carb install? Is it a direct replacement OEM carb stamped VE94EA? Did you keep the old one?

Don’t spray carb cleaner into them it may damage the rubber diaphragm and other parts.

I would consider removing the carb—take off the float bowl and see if there’s something partially blocking the starter jet.

Thank you. I did the Install. It is stamped VE94E A on the lower right beside the choke. I ordered it from TMS Parts and it has ran great until about 2 weeks ago. Once it finally starts it will run great but it justs seems like it'll crank and then fire sporadically but not start. Ill try looking at the float bowl this weekend.

check to make sure your getting plenty of fuel from/through the fuel tanks pet-cock ?!. is the fuel tank venting ?. if the tank is not venting ?, what is going on is, what I call a vapor lock, or in this case, no fuel flowing from tank to carb :).

Okay very good. Did you replace the starter valve? Shown as #9 in the picture.

If you didn’t, inspect it by removing it. Unscrew plastic nut and back it out. It’s a small piston with a sharp copper tip and a conically-shaped oring. If the oring is very smooth then possibly it’s not sealing effectively. Then buy the whole valve (can’t buy just the oring that I know of) and then you have the choice to swap out just the valve and spring or all pieces.
