Greetings from Michigan. Just picked up a 2007 Rancher 420 with foot shift. It is a used machine with hardly any miles on it. I was thinking of going through and changing the oil, diff.,and gear fluids, because I am not sure of the previous owners maintainence habits. Any suggestions on brands and viscosity of lubes. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey the guys on this site are awesome, just be patient. I only use Honda oils as my rancher has the wet clutch. For the small cost difference I just use the Honda GN4 for oil and will use the honda oil for the others when I replace.

What? Am I getting the silent treatment here? Nice forum!!
welcome to the forums hunter...what ever oil you decide to use ( honda's oil for wet clutches is best )..make sure you get oil made for wet clutches !..80w gear oil for your front and rear differental oil. lube all your cables. check your brake shoes/disk...check for any oil leaks..caused from old..worn seals. check for bad bearings in the rear differental. same for the front axle bearings.

Thanks. Have not noticed any leaks. The machine is pretty clean with low miles/hours,so I was told. Planning on setting it up with a winch and snow plow soon.

Great. Ya, I am leaning toward the Warn. Shadetree, did you go with the Warn winch mount or another company? Have seen packages on e-bay with winch and mount together. Any particular store?
i baught a warn xt25..had to make my own mounting plate..because my atv is so old..warn never made plates for them !..was no biggie making my own plate though..just a matter of measuring..and welding..and drilling the holes in the metal plate for my mounting holes for the winch..worked great.
