I did a search and the info available is overwhelming. Just acquired in decent shape and runs good. Doing all of the routine maintenance. Brakes are the worst part but I’ll fix it.

Has front winch and 26x12x12 rears with 25x10x12 fronts. Are these mismatched heights correct? What basic mods are a must? There are some tire clearance issues so I’d consider a cheap lift that doesn’t stress anything too much. Which do you recommend and how high? I don’t want a loud exhaust and I’m not looking to go crazy. Just want to keep it cheap, reliable and easy. Thanks.

I would say you are ok with the 26 rears and 25 fronts , originally the 300 4wd had a size smaller in the front , I run the same size front and back ------- a 2 inch shock extension lift would be the cheapest way to go

Mac brought up in another thread the best mod might be tires , that is true , you can have all the mods you can think of and have tuff tires and go no where in the wet mud around here -----what tires are you running and what do you do with them ----- a 4x2 Open Country ( formerly Warn ) kick out is my favorite 300 upgrade , allows you to ride 2wd till you need it , makes the atv more fun , more maneuverable and less physical effort to drive

what tires are you thinking of going with? Have you considered Radial tires Black Diamond makes some gooood ATR tires in many sizes. I'm seriously thinking about getting a set. I'm getting tired of tractor like riding tires and they tear up the gound.

What kind of riding are you doing? If just basic riding then a bias tire will be fine, but if your like me and want a smoother ride then a Radial tire would be better, and their actually stronger than a bias tire and more load rating. Black Diamond makes the ATR and XTR tires in many sizes. As for your exhaust, what are you looking for, quiet? If so a silencer would be better, but last time I checked Honda atvs had weld on adapters at least for 300s. Benz silent rider is the name I think. But overall list out your goals and your wants so we can help you out.

But one item I can say you need for sure is from my experience is, 1. Battery tender weather it be the junior or the plus. 2. A lawn mower battery in the rear tool box if your battery is going dead all the time. Diehard Gold 340CCA lawn mower batteries model number U1R with the + on the right side will fit like a glove. You'll have to add some foam around the sides and bottom to cushion it. I have a picture on my other computer at my grandmothers I'll get it when im up there. Oh the other thing, is drill 4 holes 2 in the battery box back and two in the tool box so your 4 gage battery cables and stick through.

How it will be hooked up is like this. One cable to your battery + in the box, leading through the right side holes to the + battery in the toox box, and one cable hooked to the - leading through the left holes to the - on the battery in the box, (with the original battery out of course). Your stator and rectifier will still charge that battery. I myself done this about 2011 and the battery normally lasts 4 years well, mine lasted until today and still going strong. If you want to do a good job get a step bit so you can put a grommet in the holes for the cable to go through on both the battery box and tool box.
