Being female, I have about as much mechanical knowledge as will fit in the little fingernail on my smallest finger! (No offense meant to other females who are mechanically inclined!)

I just acquired a 2004 Honda Rancher TRX400 AT which is in need of a top end motor rebuild due to smoking issues. That being said, it's a huge improvement over the 2004 Polaris Sportsman 400 that I traded even for the Honda.

I have nothing to offer by way of advice, but am enjoying reading about the Rancher and various issues and gaining just a bit of knowledge.

Oh....I'm not going to rebuild it myself! But thanks for the offer. I'm reading up on things like proper oil to use, Seafoam applications, what all is involved in the top end rebuild...the guy I traded with is going to rebuild it over the winter. That was a part of the deal! :)

the only thing simple about the ranchers..is the valves..other than that..they are a pain...wait until you have to replace the timming chain..or cam !..sheshh..i've never been so mad in my life the way they made that part..it's a night mare i tell you !..with the old scool motors..you could do all the timming chain and cam with the motor still in the frame..not the new ones !..ekkk..i hated that part.
