The original tires on my 2005 2wd Rancher are in good shape tread wise, but are starting to dry rot. I'm riding regularly again after a few years off, and I'm going to replace my tires. Original tires are 489's, and I'm happy with them. I'm also considering Kenda Bear Claws, but would appreciate any recommendations for a good trail tire. Don't need mud tires.

Bear claws are a very good all round tyre, not sure if ‘Duro Buffalo’ are available in the USA but they’re also a good all rounder.

Here's the site I used to get info on a wide range of tires: Mud-Throwers

I wanted a tire mainly for soft turf, because of my riding style and location. but that could provide good traction in mud, snow and ice. I also wanted American made
So ITP Mud Lite AT for me when I buy them

Bear Claws are good; I have a set of Quad Boss, some Duros.

If you are okay with stock, you might consider picking up a set of pull offs. I have no idea where you live in NC but giving you this as an example via craigslist....
