Howdy, folks! New here, and new to ATV's. Finally broke down and bought one last hunting season to help reduce damage on the lease when it rains. It's a Honda Rancher 420, and I'm adding a few things to it here and there to better adapt it to my use. Already installed a rear receiver hitch to be able to pull the trailer I haul it with in and out of the back yard, plus around the lease as needed. It also gives me some great tie-down points on the trailer.

Just picked up a front receiver hitch to mount a deer feeder to - now I've gotta look around here and get input on the best place to tie the power in for it, along with some ideas for some LED driving lights. Any suggestions will be welcome. For the record, I do NOT use "line taps" - I'm old school, so everything will be done with fused circuits w/relays. I've wired a LOT of motorcycles over the years for aux. lights, strobes, etc. - so I'm quite comfortable doing it, just need to find the proper points to tie it all in. I'm assuming there's a switched aux. circuit on the machine somewhere.

Other than that.....I'm an old-school firearms enthusiast/collector, primarily focusing on 1911's. I own several Class III guns, and hunt with a suppressed 7mm mag. If you've never suppressed a large-caliber rifle, you NEED to try it - between the sound reduction (100% hearing safe) and recoil reduction (makes a 7mm mag feel like a .243), it can't be beat! I'm on a number of different gun boards around the country under the same screen name - so if we "know" each other, say "howdy"!!

Welcome aboard! Ranchers are well-proven units so great choice. Curious why put the spinner on the front vs the rear?
Thanks! Putting it on the front because "a friend" has fed areas before only to realize there was a clog......lol This way, you can observe the throw. If I don't like it, I can always flip it around to the back.

I do see the point and was thinking for steering, i.e., weight on the front making it more difficult to manage vs the rear, especially if you have a long way to drive...

I don't anticipate any issues, since I'll only be running 50 lbs at a time (or less). Obviously, I'll do a dry run or two w/it first. Just will make it less hassle, since it leaves the rear receiver free for the trailer w/o having to remove.

Welcome to the forum.

What 1911's are you into? Class 3? Fun stuff!

I'm on RFC, ARF, and shotgunworld.
Well, I have what's supposed to be the most complete collection of Randall 1911 45's outside of a museum. Took me 32 years, but I managed to put together all the right AND left-handed models they made more than 100 of....

Class III? SBS - 12 gauge pump similar to the Serbu that we make....300 BO SBR w/suppressor, I hunt with a 700 BDL in 7mm mag w/a Saker 7.62 suppressor - REALLY nice in reducing sound AND recoil. We're working on a 20-gauge SxS w/8" barrels right now, trying to decide whether to go cerakote or high-gloss hot blue, similar to my custom 1911 we built for me. From there, a bit of everything in 1911's - Wilson to Baer, Remington to Rand, RIA to STI.

Very nice.

Dad did a lot of target shooting when he was younger and I dabbled a bit in my teens. He stuck to pre 70's and early 70's Series National Match/ Gold Cups. Colt's quality went to crap in the late 70's/ Early 80's, so even the later 70's Series were iffy. He started building a hardball gun out of Baer components too at one point, but I don't know that he ever finished it.

My Grandfather had a nice circa 1918 Colt that was turned into him during WW2. He was running a primary flight school and apparently an MP got drunk and left it at a local watering hole. The barkeep turned it into my Grandfather, who attempted to give it to the MP's CO, who told my Grandfather to keep it, and the MP would face the consequences for his lack of responsibility. My uncle got that one, but his kids and grandkids are shooters so it will stay in the family.

I've been seriously contemplating getting into suppressors. I was hoping that the hearing protection act might pass, but looks like the useful idiots are coming out of the woodwork again which will probably squash those hopes.
