Mods, thoughts? We all on board with 30?
ever heard of the show, "the first 48".. it involves missing persons, an means 48hrs. anyway,, 30 minutes helps me, though 48 hrs. would help me more.
what i am missing is spelling an sentence structure. the only person missing is me.:grin

Post edit timer

Bumped for newer members.

If/when the member decides to edit one of their posts after 10 minutes has passed, he/she will have to ask a Moderator or Admin to perform those post edits for them.
However.... It was voted from 10 to 30 minutes till locked --- i reckon I'm still good with 30... But to open to options/opinions .....lol

As i stated..... This is a good idea.... I'm just suggesting ..... Maybe a bit longer .... Say 20, or 30 minutes ? Yaw know my lack of typing skill (hen and peck typing)
it seems to me , and I may be wrong , that once you start the edit procedure , the 10 minutes is extended till you finish , I don't think it is going to cut you off when it hits 10 minutes , it is just 10 minutes is the cut off time to make the edit start

i been living with my mistakes, all my lives. :smile
when things get to running smooth, maybe ya can find out why, threads were disappearing. i very rarely make mistakes, with my typing, unless i'm using the keyboard.
if ya could add extra time without losing threads?

Threads or posts missing? Or both? You mentioned #1 is missing on this thread... but the first post is there. We will need specifics... what exactly is missing and where?

you misunderstand, and then some. you are the one, that said unexpected deletions.
it was in your 1st. post, this thread.
Hi everyone!

We recently experienced several unexplained thread deletions in the forums. So as a possible workaround to prevent that from happening again, the site Admin has applied a 10 minute time limit rule to edits of all post submissions.

What this means is that each member has got 10 minutes to edit his/her new post(s) submission to make any corrections, add info, photos or links etc., then their post will be locked.
lols unintended. its the way i write, that confuse's people. lols, are at me. its a dyslexia thing. a thorn in my side. do bear with me.. //ed

Ahh, OK, I thought everyone knew what was going on back then, and why we implemented the post edit timer? If you really wanna know a new member opened several different threads, then deleted each one of them so he could cherry-pick & combine posts into one thread. Since the site permissions are open, and since the admins don't ever intend to close them down, goose added the edit timer as a workaround to prevent thread/posts deletions.

that makes more sense, in a odd sort of way. i didnt know ya could delete threads. hope i aint-a-bin, doing to much cherry-picking. thank's for info. :smile
still takes me, days-months, to correct, [forgot years], to correct, my mistakes..

Admin has applied a 10 minute time limit
Yep, It started as 10..... We voted to bump to 30.
i remember that part.. just didnt know the why of it. hope it wernt me, cherry-picken threads. spelling/dyslexia/stroke, it could have been. correcting error's, while writing, still doing it. error's while speaking, still doing that also. maybe i speak true, an no-one can understand. syntax, dialect..
Oh Well.. still splats the fan.. BS

A sure fire fix to this would be no time limit post editing.... And NO option to delete the original post (just edit ONLY) <<<< this would be handy for editing pictures, BUT........ I don't they have this split option ? @VS_Goose , or @retro would be to answer this ? Far as I'm concerned the edit post timer is fine set @ 30 minutes.

I imagine the only surefire solution would be to make @LedFTed a moderator. Site permissions are trashed so I doubt if any other workaround is truly possible. Keep in mind there are essentially two completely different sites here... when they added the desktop view a few years ago it was not done professionally. It is not an optional 2nd skin like you'd expect in other words, its an optional 2nd interface that is incompatible with the core software code, database and the default theme. They cherry-picked and included the bare necessities to make it appear as though it works, but it certainly does not, and it never will work the same across both interfaces, so there is no way to control it anymore.

i cant moderate myself, though i would like to correct some of what i write, when i do realize i made a mistake. mostly spelling. i have made comment's, that after a day or two, i wish i hadnt said.
though i can see why, you want those that post, to leave a linear thread, so that others might learn from mistakes.
