Hi everyone, just a retired ol geezer here that still enjoys playing with small engines. Retired as an aircraft mechanic and Electric forklifts. Got interested in 4 wheelers when my grandson got one several years ago and just abused any maintenance on it. Being stored at my place i got curious and repaired it and enjoyed just riding around my pasture and wooded area. Naturally when ol gramps got it going he took it away from here and me.
Found out that I could get a 2005 Honda Rancher fourtrax dirt cheap and not running. It all appeared all there so
I bought it. Tore into the carb and fuel system and cleaned and cleaned until the things starts and runs great.
Found out that the Hondamatic trans is something I really wish I didn't have but it does. But from digging into it
found a broken brush spring in the shift control motor. So have ordered a new motor but still toying with repairing the old permanent magnet motor. Everything so far hasn't been too bad as a learning curve for me and has been fun. Look forward to riding it more and I tend to be safe and not rough on equipment so maybe I'll get a lot of fun out of it. Enjoy reading the articles that all of you have posted too!!! Larry
