Ok, so after my 91 trx300fw got rearended numerous times, & the exhaust has been welded & patched nearly as many times, I've lost a lot of the stock quietness. I'm looking for a replacement, hopefully cheaper than stock.

What I'm mainly looking for is quiet. Quieter, or at very least, as quiet as, stock. I can't stress this enough. I want this thing so quiet all I can hear is the leaves crackling under tire. I'm a decent fabricator, so it doesn't have to be model specific. As long as it fits in the space, I can fab up brackets & connectors. I also have no problem making up my own version of koplins stealth system that is a secondary muffler running across the back of the quad.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Help me brainstorm!

There's really not much available for the Fourtrax 300, other than stock and stock will be your quietest option. I think SuperTrap makes an exhaust for it, but it won't be quieter. As for fabbing something up, I don't know what would work.

thanks for the offer, but if i go with a muffler thats not stock on my quad, id want to see it first and be sure that rigging it up to fit, etc would be easy/possible.

blew the rest of the baffles out this weekend. definitely need to do something. setup a saved search in ebay.

it might just be in my head, but i feel like i lost some power with the exhaust blown out. could also be that everyone im riding with has a faster machine. haha.

Yeah, till we get to a downed log & I get to sit & have a beverage while they lift their fourwheeler off of the log one at a time.

i was gonna say, i take them to the trails that are ruffer and im usally at the end waiting on them cause of mud pits or there lack of ground clearance and they cant go fast. makes me feel a little better, haha.

That could be true. Sometimes, they just want run right with the exhaust open.

that and my other angle is i take them to my camp in the mountains and they dont know the trails, or where they go. so it doesnt matter HOW fast they can go, im in front!!

helmut, i really think it will make a difference. over the weekend we did about 70 miles on extremely rocky terrain, and i could definitely notice that the exhaust got louder. im guessing a baffle broke out or something. i seemed to lose even more power.

we will see. im planning on finding a stock muffler, hopefully for under 70 bucks, and see if that changes anything. one things for sure, no more loud backfires the whole time im going down a hill.
