I just picked up a 2014 Honda Rancher 4x4 ES off of Craigslist. I bought it primarily to use for hunting and riding in the 15,000 acre hunt club I'm a member of (club happens to border my back yard).

So far I've changed all of the fluids except the coolant. The forum has already helped me out with the service manual and other useful tips.

Welcome and have fun on your Rancher. What are you hunting down there?

Welcome Mike , not trying to be mean , just it might help someone else to not make the mistake you did , you missed the biggest tip on the forum = stay away from ES atv's ----------- I am sure there are reasons for someone selling a 2014 ES that are legit , like losing their job , getting sick , wanting a bigger one , bought it and found he has no where to ride it , but I'd bet a nickel to a dollar that performance and problems was the reason for dumping it ------ we had a 420 ES with us this weekend and he is no fun to ride with , "Hold Up" is all I heard all day and night long
Welcome Mike.

You'll get all the information you need from this forum, extremely helpful bunch of people.
I hunt mainly white tail deer and turkey. Deer season just ended and I'm counting the days until turkey season. When I get bored in the off season we unfortunately have plenty of coyotes to keep us busy. And the occasional bobcat.

Yeah I read about the ES problem after my purchase. I've also noticed quite a few people still buy them and have good luck with them. I also happened to find a fix on here so I'll hold onto that until I have problems.

Thanks guys.

to me it is so messed up with ES , Honda is pushing it on us , I was at the dealership Saturday that sells 5 brands and the major of what I seen was either belt driven or ES , two things I want no part of , it is like they are trying to phase foot shift out , to me it makes the bike less aggressive , even when they are working right , there is a lag in time on up and down shifts , enough to make you lose your momentum and you wish didn't shift it , not that I am speed racer but I need the PRM's to be rolling to keep rolling -----

agreed !!, they can take that ES crap, and shove it where the sun doesn't shine !..lol. and sure don't care about anything that needs a belt to move ?!..lol.
Hello and welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the forum and have exactly the same unit. The one piece of advice I would offer get a battery tender and keep the unit topped off all the time because the ES is sensitive to a low battery.
Welcome to the forum Mike, enjoy your new Honda!

For hunting you may want to look into one of these:
Yutrax Tracking Axle : Cabela's

You can also find a yard trailer under a hundred dollars at Tractor Supply. I converted mine to use a 1 7/8 ball and got all the parts at Tractor Supply

you are right about ES bikes' battery needing a full charge , I have seen that first hand ------------ I made up a mini set of jumper cables that I carry in my rear cargo box and have given jumps many times -------
