Hey everyone I’m new to this forum and new to this 86 TRX200SX I just picked up but not new to Honda’s vintage Honda’s in particular however I’m having trouble with my carb and figured hopefully someone knows more or has more knowledge about these then me. I’ve already tried doing tons of research without much luck before asking for help also lol. So when I picked this wheeler up the previous owner said he had put a big red carburetor on it and never got it running so when I got it home I did a quick carb cleaning and put it all back together with a donor tank so everything was clean and it started and ran on choke surprisingly well rode it around the yard a while and everything but would only run on choke, so I bought a re-pop carb from win cycles obviously it was suppose to be a plug and play but obviously no such luck it will hit once in a while on choke but absolutely nothing close to running also the throttle bore is smaller then the old carb but I figured if I re-jet it, it should hopefully be ok but I can not for the life of me find or figure out what size the original jet size should be to order or at least compare to the ones in the carb now so if anyone has some experience with these carbs I would greatly appreciate your help thank you very much!

The best thing you can do IMO is to put an OEM carb on it. The aftermarket carbs don’t fit the throttle and choke cables well etc.

I think the stock 85 SX uses a QA02A I think yours uses the QA08A.

Is your tank dirty?

I just took the bowl off a carb–the quad wouldn’t idle–I found two big chunks of something in the slow jet passage. Check it

Great job!
You will want to get a Shindy rebuild kit for it. Some swabs and pipe cleaners, plumbers acid brushes and a copper wire cleaning brush like the sell out of gun cleaning supplies
And some Berryman Chemtool from smallmart

Also you may want to replace the choke valve. When it’s running and you flick the choke bad n forth if the engine doesn’t respond the valve may be bad

i Edited this post because I got your quad mixed up with the TRX250
The TRX200SX does list the PD63A (your fleabay purchase carb shows this number) as the correct carb.
