Own a 05 350 Rancher ES, started having trouble with electric start about 4 months ago. Started out starting sometimes and other times I could hear a clicking under the seat but no start, I would use the rope pull start.
Haven't checked the battery yet but I figure since it was the one that come on the 4 wheeler 5 years ago when I bought it new it is dead.
Two days ago it started having shifting problems, will start it with the rope, and the gear indicator will start flashing and it will not shift gears. Most of the time you can turn off engine restart and it will shift but tonight I had to cut it off about six times before it would shift gears. Would this be caused by a dead battery also? I can't find the manual that came with the ATV. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having similar trouble with my foreman 500.Started out with no power on the digital dash,I read in a forum that it was the connections under the fender possibly had water in them.I took the fender off cleaned all the connections and put di-electric grease on all of them. The wierd thing is,is that it would click under the seat and lose all power and i was messing with it tonight and my daughter was playing with the front brake lever and the power came back to the dash.I'm stumped also.It would start with the pullcord but would not shift.I kind of wish i would have went with the manual shift now.Maybe we can figure this out.

My cousin is a mechanic at the honda shop he told me to hook a battery charger to the battery and charge it for 20 minutes on 12 volt 2 amp.And then switch the charger to 12 volt 10 amp for 1 hour. This may let you know if it is the battery.

Shifting problems

Replaced the battery and am still having problems shifting the electric shift.

The gear indicator will blink or flash three times andpause and flash three times and pause. Is it reading out a code like an automobile can or not? If so does anybody know or have a list of codes? Thanks, I use this Atv on my farm everyday 365 a year and taking it to the Honda shop for it to sit for a week until they work on it will create a real problem.

go to docsatvservice(dot)com and he has a bolt on hand or foot shifter for the ES models. i have this on my foreman 450 and when i get into the woods it gets me out. And on docsatvservice(dot)com he has a module that bypasses the ES wirings and is direct. i put that on my foreman and now i can go through mud and it will work and the ES has not given anymore problems since. his number is 601-659-9931
