Hello everyone,

I have an old Honda 250ex I need to sell, and I was wondering if this community could help me out with a few things. I don't even know what year it is and if in fact it is an EX, other than the 246cm and Honda markings on it. If someone could eyeball it and help me out, or let me know where I can find that stuff on it myself, I would really appreciate it.

I also am assuming it's a 4-stroke since there looks like an oil plug on the lower pass front side of the case, so would that mean this runs on plain 87 octane?

The last question I have is I was replacing the old spark plug and the geniuses at autozone gave me the wrong type of plug back, and they kept the old one. Could someone perhaps let me know which one i'm supposed to replace it with?
I know this is all a handful but any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There are some guys on here with similar machines... be patient. Definitely a 4 stroke. 2 strokes have a BIG FAT section on the header. I agree around an 87 probably.

Yea I think i'm on the 87 bandwagon as well, googled some images with fairings matching to that year, along with the front bar. I've had this thing way too long to not know much about it.. sad really.....

Nah Not an EX for sure Mine is a 91 and the blue part of the plastics wrap around the fuel tank with a white cover on top (see below). The front plastice look to be from an early 90s 300EX they had a onepiece cover surrounding the fueltank. Also the only other thing is that aftermarket race plastics were one piece around the fuel tank and that may be what you have as well.

Maier Mfg race plastic.
