Hey fishfiles, we're probably close to being neighbors, I'm in Lacombe on the Northshore , I have two rides, a 2011 Recon TRX250ES and a 2015 Rubicon TRX500 IRS, that little Recon is a workhorse, I've used it all kind of ways over the years, I have a pic with two hogs I shanked one morning on that Recon, unfortunately it's in the shop right now getting some long over due TLC.

Sorry to hear there was a mass exit, so where did most of them go ?
Nobody knows yet. They weren't happy with forum changes and Admins attitude towards the long standing and dedication of said members.

It's a shame because this forum was the mutts nuts, literally a few weeks back!

Kodiak , you have a load of hogs on that atv for sure ----- I live in Lacombe myself , you do look familiar , I bet we know some of the same people -----
Oh I'm sure we do, I've been living here since 1987 , I'm between Briar Lake and Oak Mill, I shot those hogs at Camp Villerie in Pearl River, been a member there for 7 years, before that Dixie Ranch, we killed 49 deer last season and a ton of hogs, I really don't like fooling with the hogs but sometimes I shoot em out of frustration.

I hit the icon and it takes me to email but doesn't give me a link to email you ---- I was suppose to go to Dixie Ranch today and fix Ronnie's Bobcat excavator which blew a seal while clearing plots , but never got to it , I know you must know Ronnie and Jeremy if you spent any time at Dixie Ranch , Ronnie retired as president and Jeremy is in charge now ---- I live south of the Trace , off of South Tranquility /CCRoad

Yeah I know Ronnie P. , I remember his older brother, I think he passed, they were heavy into running dogs when I was in the club, we spent all day chasing after dogs and sometimes we'd have to go back the next day to catch the ones we couldn't find , it was fun but i prefer to sit in a stand most of the time, my club backs up to Dixie Ranch, I know that area where you live, I hunted for years in Big Branch, I pass through there a few days ago, looks like they bush hogged all the trails to the woods, It's nice to see that was done early, I may make a hunt back there, I'll see , I had a Total Knee replacement 11 weeks ago and Big Branch is all about walking or riding a bike, It would be nice if they had the same rule as Pearl River WMA , 60 and older you can ride an ATV, wouldn't that be great ?

I don't remember meeting Ronnie's brother , I have meet his wife and pretty good friends with his son Jeremy who likes hunting ***** at night with dogs with atvs , he has been trying to get me to go -----

I spent 4 hours in the woods right off of Big Branch yesterday and into last night , hit a hole and heard a loud pop , tie rod end snapped the shank , I tried driving it back wards , I had luck like that before and have rode atvs miles to get home with a broken tie rod end in reverse , not this time , we tried tying up the wheel and pulling it , then we tried putting the front wheels of mine on the back rack of another bike and that didn't go too well , so my buddy let me take his Can-Am 570MXR ( or what ever the letter are ) to go home and get another end and some tools , I should have never done that , it was the longest ride I ever took on a Can-Am , about 45 minutes round trip , I want one

You don't want to get caught in Big Branch on a atv , they will and usually do confiscate the atv , you might get it back , but it is going to cost you dearly as you have to go the Federal Court in New Orleans where every fine seems to start at $5K ----- yea they just cut the pipelines , I stay off of the pipelines , every now and then they catch someone and make an example of them tearing up the pipelines , a couple of years back they caught a crew of like 15 tearing it up , they got fines and stuff , but also got hit with a $25,000 restitution fine for dozer work to fix the pipeline , even though in reality they never did all the damage ----

I finally found that trail cam pic and the guy looks like you on the same atv ---- but it isn't you

Wow, what a day you had, hope you got your ride fixed, Yeah I would never go into Big Branch with my atv , that's why I don't hunt it anymore, about 25 years ago I killed hog all the way down the pipeline by the lake , dude, never again, it took me forever to drag that thing out of there. So you like the Can-Am ? they are impressive looking, I've never been on one, If my Rubicon had power steering I'd be content with that.

Thinking about your dilemma in the woods, 4 hours in that heat, i sure hope you had enough hydration .

Everything was good , out the 4 hours , 3 hours was riding and having a good time , only took about an hour to ride home , get a tie rod end and return and install ---- from riding along with Can-Ams , I see they do break a lot if you ride then hard , but after spending some time on one , you don't really have to rag it ---- it is a smooth ride with power steering makes it easy , automatic no shifting , instant power , love the sound of the drive train -------- you have to learn thumb control ----- I doubt I would invest $12K on one and then add $ to that to modify it

another thing about the Can-Am and the IRS , I showed my buddy the pic of you with two hogs at the same time , and I was ragging him that his bike could not do that , one time we put a " big " hog on his back rack , he couldn't ride it with all the weight on the back , it sunk the rear till the tires were just about dragging the fenders and he couldn't steer it , we moved the hog to the front and he made it out , after he looked at the pic he said , " if I had one on the back and the front I would have been ok "
