Hey all, me again. My Honda Recon 250 is almost completely put back together. I had to buy a new battery bc my other one was dead. Well it came in today and after hooking it up I pushed start and nothing happened. The lights wouldn't turn on and the neutral light wouldn't turn on. No clicking noise or anything of the sort, just the sound of me pushing the button haha. This is a new battery that was titled for my atv. If anyone has some help for me, all appreciated!

Silly questions maybe... but is your new battery charged? Not hooked up backwards? Check the fuses and check the negative cable where it attaches to the motor near the starter. The cables should be clean and tight.

A battery that is physically half the size of your old battery has half the cranking amps to spin the starter. I think you were sold the wrong battery.

The battery came from a site called Battery Sharks. The price was $22 compared to $35 from other sites. But it was listed as Honda Recon 250 12V Battery so I didn't question. When it came in I was shocked, but considering the old battery is over 10 years old. I figured maybe there is newer technology to make batteries smaller LOL. I charged battery fully (it wasn't fully charged) and I tried it again . Still nothing. I recently rebuilt carburetor and fuel tank, do you think I need to prime the carburetor? If so how do I do that bc there is no primer haha

Does the motor even crank over? Your battery is probably too small, but I didn't catch whether it even cranks the motor over at a normal cranking RPM, or not? If not, it won't start... because the ignition gets its power from that same insufficient capacity battery. Follow me?

What happens if you jump start it using a 12 volt running car engine?

There is fuel in the float bowl of carburator. When putting screwdriver to solenoid it sounds like it's struggling to get fuel and turn over. I recently took apart and cleaned the carberator. Do y'all think it may have been put back together improperly? I was very careful and took pictures so I find that unlikely, but you never know. Also can someone tell me in a step by step way to share a video, so I can let y'all see and hear what's up

Post it to You Tube. Copy the link to your video and post it back here. Pretty simple.

The motor in your video is cranking over plenty fast enough so you can rule out the battery. You'll have to find out why the neutral light doesn't work (is in in neutral?) when you turn the ignition switch on next.

No I haven't, I'm not sure how to do that. I'll try it though. Make a visit to YouTube and maybe you can walk me through process of cleaning spark plug on Honda Recon 250
I'm not terribly familiar with the Recon 250. I'm sure you can find the spark plug, you sound like you know more about it than I do. I had a similar problem with mine turning over and not firing.

All I did was remove the spark plug and brush the crud off of it with a wire brush. I sacrificed one from an old gun cleaning kit. It's one of those simple things that get overlooked. Hope that's all it is.
