Im sorry, but ANYONE who would pay more then $10,000 for a stock OEM ATV or even dirt bike is out of their FU(<!NG mind. The only reason I even say 10,000 is because some current models offer large engines, auto tranny's, and some other "expensive" features as well.

yeah when i saw it on ebay the other day i could not believe that it was going for 16k but now that its at 49k I'm just speechless. if i had 40 or 50 grand i dang sure wouldnt blow it all on a 250r. my question is what would you do with it once you got it, you wouldnt want to ride it or anything i mean one wreck and there goes 50 grand. you gotta admit though, it is a pretty sweet find.

I would have to agree with you. That's a lot of money and with no warranty. LOL. Then, again, I'm no collector. If it's never been out of the crate, I wonder why it's sold as "used". I guess since it was purchased from Honda, it is considered used now. Also, I wonder why the listing says this: "The winning buyer purchases these parts at their own risk. NOT TO BE ASSEMBLED!"

I understand they're selling it as a collector's item, but why would they care if it was assembled?

Liability, as 'new trikes' cannot be sold. At least not offroad ones with two wheels in the back. The ban was extended (1987-2007 I believe) after that one ended, so it's permanent/until the CPSC issues safety standards....been more than 2 decades so I doubt they ever will.

Yes, I understand now. I had forgotten about the ban. That would explain everything.

I can understand the price being where it is. Collectors will spend, hundreds for jesus shaped potato chips, thousands on trash that was used by a celebrity, and millions on car collections. I would never spend that kind of cash on a atc. But it would be a great "piece" lol to have.
