I guess I have an infatuation with 80's Honda shafties. I ride a 89 Pacific Coast also shafty and I just picked this bad boy up. I sold a 81 Silverwing also a shafty to get the PC earlier this year...Love shaft driven. Love Honda reliability, love Honda easy maintenance. Gotta be the easiest to maintaing 4 wheeler ever! The PC is the easiest bike to maintain ever. Honda did it right 800cc dual plug per cylinder vtwin, with hydraulic valves, spin on oil filter, and the greatest thing is integrated storage instead of saddle bags they are built in and the whole rear seat lifts up to reveal enough trunk space to carry 5 grocery bags worth of food.
Anyway
Friend of a friend was thinking about selling the 300 so I jumped on it. Never even saw it in person. Took my friend the money he picked it up, pulled and cleaned the carb, changed the oil, changed the spark plug, and I picked it up a day later.
In the process of ordering an airfilter and pads we discovered it was a 300 as I was told it was a 250, prev owner thought it was a 250 and this was prior to me seeing it. So I was really excited!
It needed some love. Mechanically the unit was great! But it was ugly. Check out my photo alubum already posted pictures.
I emptied the rear end best I could anyway since I didn't see a drain plug I removed the fill plug and picked the front end up and held it up to my chest and got the fluid out that way. Put a 75w90 synthetic GL5 fluid in there.
Pulled the racks, sanded the exterior down, fixed the battery box as the bottom broke out (thank god prev. owner kept the piece that broke), painted the body, hitch, muffler, racks, pegs, and put it all back together.
New air filter and rear pads are on their way...
Anyway glad to find a forum. I am a member of about 20 car forums for the different cars I have owned. Started driving in 1996 with a hardship and I am on my 27th vehicle which happens to be an 08' Charcoal Grey Quad Cab Hemi Dodge Truck. Will take some pics of the 300 in the bed tomorrow. First trip out to my buddies farm and my deer lease...:icon_ rocker:
Oh and this thing was built the same month I turned 7(10/87). Got it for 29th birthday so late bday present...LOL
