Hey after a long time trying to figure out the right Atv for my needs, I landed on a 2018 Honda Rubicon DCT. Some of the reasons that led me to that decision included the current rebate and low financing rates, having a quality local dealer and lower overall cost of ownership.

My application is mostly trail riding, hunting and pulling a tub trailer loaded with gear. Requirements for me included EPS, EFI, IRS, some sort of EBS, a manual locking front diff and a low gear. At one point I narrowed it down to Rubicon, Grizzly and Outlanders. The cost of can-am ownership and no factory locking front diff ultimately eliminated that option. Then I had a very hard choice on the grizzly. I think they are great machines but they are having too many oil burning issues and problems with a poorly designed air box. Plus them going back to the 686cc engine leaves me less confident as a consumer.

I have already purchased and installed a Kimpex Nomad rear 2up trunk and have many other accessories in mind (tires, winch, windshield, foot pegs, gun scabbard, heated grips, etc).

The real test will be when I go to hunt camp next fall and see how she does over my Polaris Ranger with a duraclutch (it’s a pulling monster).

Looking forward to being an active participant here on the forum and please share any rubicon knowledge or accessory suggestions with me that you think I should be aware of. Thanks!

A winch is a must also a better set of tires. The factory tires wear out rather quickly. A set of hand warmers and a thumb warmer if you do a lot of plowing in the winter. I like that set you have the seat. Now speaking of the Polaris ranger. You are right my xp 900 pulls like a mule. I enjoy it during hunting season in the winter. I have the same quad as you do. Mine is a 2015 with dct ps full auto. Have about 2200 miles on it. Never a problem Just keep it serviced.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Just need to decide on which winch and which tires. Seems like 2500-3000lb winch will be plenty with a kfi plate. I run wire cable instead of synthetic rope in my winch because my lines run across trees.

I won’t be plowing but hand warmers will be a purchase later on. Thanks for providing your riding results, I hope to have that many miles on it sooner than later. I do all servicing myself and am one of those guys that over services it. It’ll get oils, filters, fluids and grease changed whether they need it or not!

Nice looking machine, and it will be even more-so after you upgrade to true to size tires. Welcome to the forum.
