Hello everyone. I'm new to owning an ATV and want to learn more about preventative care...I've got a 2011 Foreman manual shift that I use for hunting and I want to keep it in tip top shape. So far, I have been simply trail riding and the bike is kept in the garage out of the sun and weather. Any tips on keeping it running well and avoiding any budget busters in the future would be greatly appreciated... Looking forward to learning more from this forum. Thanks!!!

welcome to the forums !..as long as you stay out of the swamps..lol..you should be ok !..lol..water kills bearings and seals..among other things. keep the oil changed..air fliter and oil filter changed..inspect your brakes and bearings every now and then..lube your cables..grease your axle and hub splines on all your wheel axles..and you should be good..worst thing that kills a atv..is lack of maintance !..if you do this on a reg schedule...yu'll be fine..just treat it like you would your car or truck..if you do this..your atv will last forever.

If your bike sits for periods of time, It wont hurt to put some sta-bil in the fuel tank. Also, run it for a few minutes after you put the treatment in so that it works its way into the carb. (if its not EFI).

I run my bike most every day, but I still use the sta-bil just for the added protection against ethanol...

Thanks for the advice. Its funny you mentioned ethanol... When I bought the bike, the mechanic who showed me all the features specifically told me to avoid putting ethanol based gasoline in it... he said it does a number on the fuel system. I thought this only happened with marine engines (due to the venting system) but apparently not...

I have been running the bike after turning the fuel valve to off to burn all the gas in the fuel system, then the bike can be stored without the risk of gumming up parts... Not sure if this is a good thing to do or not but it seems to work so far. I have used Sta bil in my generator before and seems to do ok so I plan on using it after hunting season is over in my ATV.

Welcome, I'm new to the forum as well. Make sure you get the break-in oil and fluids out when you get 100 miles.Research shows Rotella T-6 15-40 is very well suited for wheelers. Lucas for diff/gear. I run Rotella in all my stuff never had a problem
