I have a few problems, the trans slips but the base oil pressure I believe is low. the manual says 18 psi at 1400 rpm's. is that idle? I have a tach lead for a fluke meter but it is giving me a way off reading I think. I also have low compression with quite a bit of blowby coming into the air filter housing from the vent. I also have some engine noise. can the low base oil pressure cause the trans to slip in the auto tranny's? I'm wondering if a top end redo and an oil pump could solve my problems. if anybody has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated.

the compression is 80 psi cold, I don't know if it would make much difference hot though. I will have to try it hot. the oil pressure at idle is roughly 10 psi but I don't know how many rpm's it is at idle.

Yes, I forgot to add, 1,400 RPMs is idle speed.

You can have low compression and still have good oil pressure. Just replacing the oil pump may not help with the low oil pressure. Repairing the low compression may not help with the low oil pressure problem. How many miles/hours on the motor? You might just have a worn out motor that needs a rebuild or replacement.
