I've got an 86 trx 200 sx it has a major oil leak but what I need to know is the leak is coming from the left crankcase cover were the stator is but is there any oil in there or the leak coming from the actual block itself.

It could be coming from either place, because there's oil in the side where the stator is, too.

agreed ^^^^^..some bikes have a dry running stator..while others combine the whole crank case oil to the lower part of the engine..which..in your case..oil travels to the right and left of the lower part of the engine.
