I have a 2014 Rancher 420 4x4 foot shift running 30x9x14 backs, so does anyone know what I might have broke? Heres what happend:

I was stuck in some thick GA clay and while trying to work the four wheeler in reverse I heard a pop and then what sounded like gears grinding in the transmission. I can't get it to shift at all, even though if you try to gear it down the neutral light will come on and you can start it and it also will act like it thinks it's in reverse because the R light will come on. My question is what I'm the heck did I break?? I jacked it up completely off the ground and the back tires won't turn without excessive force. I fired it up while it was off the ground and hit the throttle and it sounds like its 5th gear trying to go up a hill from a dead stop and the tires just shake?? Anyone got a direction to point me in before I go to tearing the wrong thing apart??

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you blew your transmission.

If your Reverse light is coming on and you're not in reverse you can start by pulling the rear engine cover. The gear position switch is on the inside of the rear cover and is turned by the shift drum.

My guess is your shift drum exploded. 420's weren't made to run 30" Silverbacks......

I would start from the back and work my way forward, differential, shaft to internal transmission. if the differential and shaft are fine and leading you to the transmission then the challenges are steep and costly
