I am working on a 02 250ex that had sat up for a few years. I took off carb and cleaned it out real well and rebuilt it with a Shindy carb kit. It runs well once warm but you have to constantly give it throttle when cold. It also wont start or run with the choke pulled. Wondering if I should move up a size on the pilot jet? Fuel mixture screw out 2.5-3 turns. Original filter and exhaust. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

you might also have the clean the gas tank. non-ethanol gas causes problems, the more it sits the worst the problem. there may be a filter in the gas tank. dont know.

Does the engine stumble when you choke it while warm?

If so the choke might seem to be operating and then you might figure the carb isn’t clean enough or not tuned right

If it doesn’t stumble, then the choke is probably not working. Follow that choke knob down the cable to the carb. It might have a little plunger on it and the oring might be missing or perished
