What do you need to know I have a manual for 91-92 but they should be the same? I have some of the important pages scanned on my computer if you need anything I will more than gladly email you what ever you need to see.

I'm not really sure what the X means but the E means it's electric start. TRX stands for Fourtrax.

Mine is electric start. Seems to me the guy I got it from said it was a TRX250EX.

Still looking around for a free download manual. Another couple weeks I'm in better financial shape, I'll just buy one!

Frank, I think what you have is neither a 250X or EX. I think it is a utility quad which I believe was a model TRX250 without anything after the 250.

I think you're correct. All the parts web places only show a TRX250 for that year, no letters after the #.

Yeah, if it's the 4-wheeler in your avatar, it's a TRX250 Recon utility. The X and EX models are sport quads.

Yes, it is a 1999 Recon. But now I am confused on another thing. You are asking for a 1987 manual and the tag shows 1999. So, not only are you asking for the wrong model, you are asking for the wrong year. This is why I am confused. By the way, I have the same year Recon. Great quad. And I used to have a 1987 250X. These are two totally different quads. About the only thing they have in common is that they both have 4 tires. And the difference between a 250X and a 250EX are almost as vast.

It will be hard to find an online manual for the 250 Recon. I've searched a lot for one, myself, and I've never been able to find it.

But from what I have learned, for some reason, the Clymer is really poor for the Recon. The OEM is way better. I had both for my 250X and they both were good. But on the Recon, I'd stay away from the Clymer.
