How old is your son? You may want to consider a 300 so he doesn't outgrow it as fast.

i dont think there is much a difference between a 250 and a 300 but i know that the 250's are really good and very dependable

i really like to new sport clutch on the new quads. its perfect for kids trying to learn how drive a manual with the ability to not use the clutch and not wreck anything. i still think the 250 is a better ride for a kid thats starting

shaft is nice with very little maintenance but some speed is lost with the increased friction

Yea but most people don't need that extra little speed on a little 250. I loved my 250. I love my 400ex even more...ESPECIALLY in the snow. :icon_ rocker::icon_ lala:

I had a TRX250X a couple of years ago the engine had just been rebuilt on. All I can say is that bad boy was fast! I had fun on it and I'm 5'10" tall and at that time weighed 260 lbs.

I got it for next to nothing $350.00. I did put tires on it, wheel bearings, and tie rod ends. To make it a little nicer I did also put some new Maier plastic on it. That cost me more than my initial investment. After the work was done this little Quad was so much fun to ride, and handled like it was ready to hit the track.

I had no problems at all. Mine was the older moder that just had the kick-start. Even though some-tmes she would sit for weeks, with one or two swift kicks, she was off to the races. Always started fast, and ran even faster.

The dumbest thing I did was I sold. I did so because I had gone through a bunch of back surgeries and was afraid I would screw myself up riding it. But even though I have a Foreman now, I still miss my 250X.

The only bad thing about these little 4 wheelers is they have an issue with making the rider to go balls to the wall. Depending on your Son's age? You may have a hard time keeping him in check?

Just a super nice unit!

the 250x is the older one and has kick start and is somewhat cooler and the 250ex is the newer one and has electric start. the name says it all

The 250ex is the samething as a recon250 with different plastic. Shaft drive and e-start and a sport clutch which give you the option of shifting it as an auto clutch or a manual clutch. the 250x is the same design as a 300 ex full manual clutch and chain driven.

Exactly there is several deferences between the 2.The plastic is close but the drive train is different.
