just wanted to make a quick build thread on my 300. don't have detailed pics but you can get a little idea. when I bought it, it was stock other than a small lift in the rear. sine then I have done a home made snorkel, high flow k&n filter, rejet carb with 128 main, flush mount led head lights, champion 2000 lb winch, heat wrapped the exhaust, performance spark plug and wire, and rims and tires from a grizzly. I also did the 1 1/2" pvc shock spacers on the front but don't like the rough ride so I have a set of brute force shocks on the way. I plan on doing the grizzly 660 shock on the rear, exhaust (leaning toward Harley pipe), hot shot cdi, high comp piston and valves, high lifter cam, and lights mooorrreeee lights. possible an oil cooler with fan also. I eventually want to build my oan suspension and even playing with the idea of an independent rear suspension. and a side note, the rims and tires are by far the best deal I've made during this build on a budget. found them on Craig's list for $100 on the whole set. couldn't have been more happy with that one. wish I had taken a little more time on the snorkel to hide it a little better. and originally planned to do a black body, Hunter green accents paint scheme but the tan has really grow on me so I'm undecided on that at the moment. let me know your thoughts, ideas ect.

It seems when you own a 300 you develop some kind of illness threat is incurable, this illness is savage, it makes you spend money on lots of mods that aren't really necessary but you really want to do just because you can!!

Welcome to the disease my friend haha!

Good work so far though, it's looking good, the only thing I wouldn't do is the IRS mod, for the work involved it's just not worth it, you won't really gain anything either. Easier to buy a Rubicon lol

ill get the name on the lights, i got them on Amazon for like 25 bucks but the only thing is i couldn't do high and low beam so just wired them for high, once I get a light bar ill run that to highs and maybe headlights to low beam maybe. as for just the filter i can't say for sure because I did that and the rejet at the same time. but with the combo there is definitely a difference. it's not a huge difference but its definitely there. a little more acceleration but I would say the biggest change is torque. for example, a ditch that I would have to down shift or grab a lot of throttle to get up the other side... now she just climbs right on out. and now it will break loose on my drive way where before it would maybe spin a little bit. it cost right around 100 for both but I say worth it. the jet kit even recommended the high flow filter.

I'd paint them pipes flat black
you mean for the snorkel? any branch that hits it scratches the paint right off so I'm thinking about getting more heat wrap and wrapping them instead. I think that would hold up a lot better and might give a cool look too. it would probably help with strength too. when they get bumped in the woods it moves them all around, bust the seals loose or pulls them apart completely. I think the wrap would keep that from happening

Any more pics of that winch setup? I've got some good ones from SamUK, but yours looks different.

I will get some pica of the winch for you. mine came with a small mounting plate that really didn't mount anywhere. so we got some 1/8" steel from tractor supply. I think 2" wide. then we just ran two pieces across the frame directly behind the head lights and used ubolts for now. then we ran a piece right down the middle and set the small mounting plate on there. made two holes to line up with the bracket and bolted it on. I plan to come back and weld everything for safe measure when I find someone to do it. but it has pulled me out multiple times with no indication of too much stress. but once it stops raining here ill run out and get some pics for a better understanding. the one flaw was I had to remove the boot on the back of the right headlight. buuuttttt the new led's are just a hair more shallow and fit perfectly.

I also didn't like the idea of not having a kill switch for the winch so I went up town and got a temporary one but my nice ones come in today so im excited about that. trying to decide where to put them. I'm going to need more for lights and maybe the electric fan. but I don't like them installed in the fender plastics and I really don't want to put them on the middle of the handle bars either... any ideas on that one?

nah that's the winch in and out. I really want there to be a switch in the power line. I just feel better with it having a kill switch. in case it ever were to get a mind of its own. and I figured out it wasn't killing the battery it was just bad connection but for that reason too just in case. but I've seen them do all kinda crazy stuff before while people have their hands too close... I feel if anything like that were to ever happen I need to be able to reach up and kill it yknow

any reason you can't wire the winch to the ignition switch to kill power to it ?.

yknow shadetree that would have worked swell if I had thought about it. but I already got the marine switches and cut me a hole where ima put it. I chose the black piece in the center of the handle bars but the switch is deep, so ill have to put some washers to raise the plastic up just a tad

ah..ok. I would have wired it to the ignition switch :). then again, I use all new parts with my warn winches when I install them :).

I've seen winch solenoids that stuck and basically the winch kept winding in until it destroyed itself. That was on an old Warn with solenoids, but still.....

I have the winch wires on my Jeeps on marine terminals on the top posts, so if something like that happens hopefully I can get the hood open and yank one off before the winch eats itself. I also leave the + off the terminal when not in use.

those old fashion solenoids for winches back then were not very good to begin with !..lol. todays warn solenoids are a better design now. not once have I had any of mine stick on ?, seems to be a solid product today. I still wire mine to the key switch, if it ever sticks on ?, a fast turn of the key fixes this..lol.
