Sweet! Looking forward to seeing it finished.

On a side note, I'm constanctly amazed to see engines sitting on carpeted floors and frames on decks. It just blows me away. I paint my garage floor and put cardboard under my new cars in case it leaks oil. It's just so weird to me.

Yeah, or you can convert yours to a 4X4 by adding a 4X4 engine front cover and joint output shaft. LOL. Of course, you would need the front drveshaft, diff, axles, and knuckles. They didn't use to be that easy to convert to 4X4s. LOL.

Yeah, that's about how it goes when splitting a case. LMAO. You have to have patience to split a case and put it back together right.

i've seen a few of those lately on some bikes i've worked on..only thing is..even if you disconnect the drive shaft..you still have the front wheels dragging your speed down..other than that..it's pretty neat.

Yeah, that's how Honda's Traxlok works too. When you push the button to disengage 4wd, it disengages, but both front axles are still locked together.

ADDED: I don't think "locked" is the right word to use, but when you lift the front end and turn one wheel, the other one turns backwards, so it's still engaged with the gears.

The first one that I split when I was 14, I didn't have a service manual. LOL. I just had to figure it out and it took me a few tries to get it right, but I finally did.

yeah..seems to me..your not gaining much by doing that..you might gain alittle speed and easier turning..but..it still drags the bike down.

Yamaha 4X4s don't work like that. When you disengage 4wd, you can turn one wheel without the other one turning, just like a regular 2wd is.

yeah..i've studied this..and yeah..i can do it ( i got parts handy if i do )..it wouldn't take much seeing how the 2wd version's already have the places where you can install the 4wd parts..soo..yeah..it can be done..buttttttt..as you already know..i've already got a 4x4..lol..my '89 trx350d foreman is loaded for hard to get to places!!..lol.
