What are you looking for? More low end power or top speed. In addition to the bolt ons, you can change gearing and tire diameter depending on what your trying to do.

nj couldn't have said or asked any better !..depending on how much to you is cheapest...lmfao..if your talking a few hound bucks..thier is alot you can do..if your talking a few dollars..start with re-jeting..and a bolt on after market ex..if you really want to get a top of the line atv..then you better break out your check book..thier isn't anything cheap about making these thigns fly like a rocket..boring..larger piston..bigger cam..bigger valves..porting...larger carb..bigger jets..change the front and rear sprocket size..go to a smaller tire size in the rear...soooo many things that can add up to more power..more top end..depends on how large your bank account is..lol.

most common problems is people modifying the engine and sacrificing these things awesome reliability. i would go with a good full exhaust and jet it. dont get too crazy inside the engine for reliabilitys sake

Grind down the welds in the exhaust pipe, uni air filter. If the area you ride is dry remove the air box lid and re jet. Lexx makes a good and cheap ( under 200) slip on. You can also play with the gearing. I have a 02 400ex and the first thing I did was to change the front sprocket to a 14 tooth, its a much better trail machine with a smaller $12 front sprocket. IMO the the most important thing you can do is get the suspension tuned to your weight and type of riding.
